Researching for six word stories was really cool! I did a similar project last semester in Composition and really enjoyed it. The first site I visited was http://www.sixwordstories.net/ and I was surprised to find that almost all of the stories were really sad. Yet, I still found that the sad stories were the most effective in this form of writing. I decided to take that direction in my own six word story and write it about the divorce of my parents. Some of my favorite stories were, "Born a twin; Graduated only child" and "Torched the haystack. Found the needle." I'm really looking forward to the video portion of this project.
This was a very entertaining project. I really enjoyed getting to learn about the cameras and how to set up a good shot. I also really enjoyed learning the difference between a wide, medium, and tight shot, and I found myself at home actually thinking about cinematography while I was watching television. The next thing we did is we went all around the school to take video, which was really cool because we got to shoot in a variety of environments. My favorite shot was the art shot in which I included one of the painting classes projects, which was an emblem for the soccer team. My least favorite shot was the one of the trophy case because it was really hard not to get a reflection from the glass in the shot. The next thing we did was put our shots into Final Cut Pro X in order to learn about the software. The first thing we did once we were in the application was we applied all sorts of different effects, which was undoubtedly my favorite part of the software. Then we applied transitions and text to the shots. My least favorite part of the project was applying text to the shots because I don't feel that I did it very well. It didn't seem to fit the shots, and it's definitely something I want to improve on in the future. Overall, I enjoyed this project and it was a great learning experience.
